RESOLUTIONS THAT LISTEN BEFORE THEY SPEAK ~ Where Change Waits for the Brave to Listen

Every prediction invites curiosity, every expectation challenges patience—but neither can dictate the life that unfolds. When the new year is birthed, we make resolutions of how we will change our life in the coming year in hopes that our life will get better. But what if we were more conscious of change in the moment, minute, hour, week or month?

So much can happen in a year and once we get past the first month or months, we can loose our momentum with the change we set in our resolutions. When we put so much energy into changing that aspect of our lives and it doesn't manifest, we become disheartened, disappointed, and disillusioned.

What if we created a weekly or monthly reflection and became aware and conscious of what is blocking us from our successes?

What if the blocks to our success with our resolutions had to do with the healing we needed to do?

Everything we think, every action we take, and every intention we hold shapes the life that unfolds around us. True change doesn’t come from a single resolution or a yearly promise...it comes from consistently examining how we think, what we choose to focus on, and how we act. Predictions, prophecies, and the symbolism revealed each year may catch our attention, but they cannot create change for us. The opportunity exists, yes...but the real work must happen within.

Some reflections are too deep to navigate alone. We cannot fairly serve as our own referee when it comes to missteps, old wounds, or patterns that no longer serve us. It’s like a teacher trying to grade their own test: the answers might be right in front of her, but the honesty required for true learning is impossible without guidance. Change demands attention, courage, and sometimes the help of others. But when it happens, it shapes a life not dictated by fate, predictions, or expectation—but by conscious choice and a willingness to grow.

Changing how your life unfolds requires more than words, thoughts and ideas. Change needs energy, like fire needs air to burn. I have spoke in previous blogs on the levels and layers of healing each of us carries. Until we become honest with ourselves, see our reflections of our shadow, then we will continue to find making changes ...challenging.

We need to take our time, be patient, and gain the wisdom to truly gain the momentum we desire. We were never meant to be perfect, nor is our life meant to be perfect, if it was we would never learn the wisdom or the knowledge to guide our choices in life.

If you are going to make any resolutions, make it a point every month or every two weeks, to be in stillness, to reflect, and to understand you and your life. Look beneath the surface and

be willing to be truly honest with yourself. Let me make it clear, this is not about blame, shame or being wrong. That hasn't worked up until this point and it certainly will not work going forward. Be gentle with yourself, carve time to do self care or schedule some time away from people and places that don't allow you to breathe.

Below are Self Reflective questions to ask yourself :

  • What are the moments in my life I feel most proud of, and what did they teach me about who I truly am?

  • Where in my life do I feel stuck, drained, or disconnected from myself?

  • Which patterns or behaviors keep repeating, even though I know they no longer serve me?

  • What emotions or experiences have I avoided confronting, and how might they be shaping my present?

  • In what areas of my life do I feel a lack of alignment between what I desire and what I do?

  • Who or what triggers strong reactions in me, and what might that reveal about my unresolved wounds?

  • What do I long for most in my life, and what fears or beliefs might be blocking me from it?

  • Where do I hold judgment—toward myself or others—that keeps me from experiencing freedom or joy?

  • What aspects of myself have I neglected or denied, and what would happen if I embraced them fully?

  • If I could receive guidance from a wise, intuitive presence, what questions would I most want answered about my life?

How you respond to these questions can be a good indication of where you are. If they are difficult to answer then allow me to guide you.
