SHADOW HEALING THROUGH STORY

Becoming the author in your life story...and what comes next...

There are many approaches when it comes to doing shadow work. Shadow work originated from one of my favourite psychologist Carl Jung . This work involves uncovering, acknowledging, and integrating unconscious aspects of the self known as the shadow, to achieve wholeness. His work focused on shining a light and accepting these traits rather than trying to eliminate these hidden or suppressed emotions. Doing shadow work helps the individuals to understand root causes of self sabotage, trauma, and negative behavioural patterns.
Bringing these bottled up emotions, fears and desires into conscious awareness helps reduce projection onto others and improves relationships. Integrating both dark and light shadows help heal past wounds, break cyclical trauma so we can live more authentically...transforming hidden pain into emotional balance and inner peace.
However, another aspect of these wounds are not necessarily all ours to bare as I found out during some of the deepest shadow work a few years ago. I desperately tried different methods and approaches, I learned many tools and approaches but it didn't seem to change my life. Until over 3 years ago. I was introduced to a "healer/medium" who literally began a huge shift on my healing journey. I learned I was carrying the long line of ancestral wounds...not just from one set of parents ...but from two.
To understand how ancestral wounds can affect our healing and our life is a massive shift in our unconscious awareness that has not met its true potential. We understand the physical aspects that were passed down when we look at pictures of grandparents, great grandparents etc., and see similar physical features. We also understand that we inherit the health of our lineage. Yet we do not consider the unhealed wounds that also came with our family lines.
Working on our shadow self needs to go hand in hand with our ancestral wounds. On my healing journey I had a team of different methods and approaches in order to release these wounds. And while you think that "I can't afford to have a bunch of different healers helping me" ...I couldn't afford it either...but I had to do it in order to ensure the right work was done. It doesn't mean you have to do it all at once. I had so much energy stored in my body that my body became very unhealthy. Cortisol, adrenaline, and other hormones were so off I couldn't function. I tried naturopathy but my body could not handle the supplements, they did the opposite of what they were intended to do. We have to find what aligns with our well being, the pieces of the puzzle that fit and work best for us.
Shadow work and healing ancestral wounds is a process, it is not a straight line or a one time thing and your done...that is not how healing works. Ancestral wounds came from your lineage...so that means it affects everyone you are related to, your kids, brothers, sisters, cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents. Anyone who was considered a "Black sheep, outcast, the problem child, and scapegoat are usually the ones that break the cycle of generational trauma. Its not an easy label to bare but what who you truly are is the cycle breaker, the truth-teller, the rebel...the warrior.
Shadow work has 3 core steps when we begin.
Set Intentions & Create Safety
This is where you manage how much you deal with and when
Create a safe space to do the work
Learn coping tools & methods to ensure ways to reset your nervous system
Identify Triggers and Projections
Shadow self reveals itself through strong emotional reactions to other. Feeling intense anger, jealousy, or irrational towards someone...take a pause... acknowledge what just happened...don't speak badly to yourself about it ...step back and ask why you reacted and "what trait are you seeing in them that I deny in myself"
Practice Journaling
This doesn't have to be a daily thing...or maybe you can make a note on your phone or send yourself an email when something is triggered. Keeping track of triggers helps you stay aware of when your shadow self is causing issues.
It is extremely important to do self care. This means knowing how to clear, center, ground and protection. Going for a massage, acupuncture, craniosacral therapy are also considered self care so long as the people doing them work from an intuitive approach. Its not to say none intuitive practitioners would not be beneficial. When I work with intuitive practitioners for my self care they can give me reflection and feed back. This is crucial information that can guide you when you are doing shadow work.
This is why I offer Shamanic Intuitive Coaching, I have tried so many methods and I understand how each of them work. We work in a co-creative/gentle yet firm approach. My intention is to allow you to see how capable and wise you are.
In my upcoming workshop "SHADOW HEALING THROUGH STORY" has a beginning, middle and continuation....because healing is a journey...not a destination. You will be guided with question and headings to create your middle and continuation story. The whole purpose to to rewrite the life you want moving forward. How you want to feel, how you want to respond and gain some level of control over your choices.
This is a three part workshop every two weeks. In between those times you will receive one free half hour personal session to offer support and guidance. There will be two sequel workshops that will deepen the shadow work and strengthen your innate wisdom. If possible I would welcome an in person group in my home. We will leave the door open for opportunity ...and fate.
